I named my website after this verse. It is who I hope to be right now and who I hope to become as life marches on. I constantly strive to be a wife that does my husband (and my kids) good and not harm all the days of my life. All of the things on this website are based out of this idea... Whether it is something to create a peaceful, loving home or having fun with my kids or saving our family money. I do all of it with the goal of blessing my husband and my family.
I think a lot of wives have no idea how much power they hold over their home. If you are a wife who is easily angered, or critical of your husband, or selfish then your home will not be a happy, safe place and you will not be "Far More Precious" than jewels.
But, it doesn't take much... Just a slight shift of attitude, and a constant reliance on Jesus and your husband will feel like the luckiest man alive. You can probably ask any man. If he had a perfectly kept house, amazing dinners every night, a super great-paying job, genius children, but a critical and easily-frustrated wife he would be miserable!
BUT, a man who comes home to a house that is sometimes messy, has dinner to eat, a job to provide for his family, and a wife who is supportive and encouraging will feel like his life is blessed and full. He will definitely agree that the woman he married is FAR MORE PRECIOUS than jewels or any amount of money in the world because he will know that he is appreciated for his work, respected as the leader of his house, and loved by his family.
Of course, I am not perfect at this. I'm a sinner. At times in life, I get frustrated over things that I cannot have control over or just feel completely overwhelmed and am not encouraging or loving. Sometimes, I'm a pain to live with. Often, I sin against my kids or my husband. But, God's grace is sufficient for my weakness. So, I trust in Him to pick me back up and continue to mold me into the woman that He is shaping me to be.
There are a lot of great books out there for married couples and for wives, but For Women Only by Shaunti Feldham is a very good one! I learned a lot of things from this book that I did not know about men, and I learned how I could better be a blessing to my husband.
