Hi, I’m Rachel!
I grew up in a small town outside of Austin called Marble Falls, and I absolutely love it there. We still visit often to take a nice drive in the beautiful Texas hill country, and enjoy an awesome dinner from the Bluebonnet Cafe.
I actually grew up out in the middle of nowhere where we spent our free time swimming in Cow Creek, exploring the woods, and running from rattlesnakes. Truly, I’m a country girl at heart. Though, my husband doesn’t believe it. :) I was raised in a Christian home, with an amazing family. But, I didn’t truly experience the grace of God until I was 18. At that stage in my life, God revealed himself to me by giving me new eyes for the bible and through some relationships He put in my life. He completely blew my mind. I will forever be changed, and I’m so thankful. I married my best friend in July 2007. All of our wedding plans disappeared when Marble Falls was flooded that summer, so we eloped to Colorado Springs! Little known fact: You can marry yourself there. So, our wedding consisted of Chris, me, and our marriage license. :) I think it was pretty romantic. We have three awesome lil men: Micaiah, Colton, and Elijah. They all want to be just like their daddy, and I’m okay with that. :) Some days, they make me wanting to go screaming down the street, but most days, I just can’t get enough of their adorable little voices, and giggles, and imaginations. The days are long, but the years are short. I am constantly trying to remember that, especially on the hard days, and enjoy every single minute of it. We read Dave Ramsey’s book, made a plan, and became debt free in 2012! You can read about that here. In September, we were finally able to buy our first home! It was a foreclosure, so it needs all kinds of fixing up, but we are up for the task and more than excited about it! I created this blog to write about the best, hardest job in the world being a mom, striving to be an encouraging wife, and turning this house into a home all on a budget. Welcome to my journey to become a Far More Precious than jewels woman. |
