Happy Transformation Tuesday!
Today I'm going to show you how I made a cute pencil skirt from an old t-shirt in 5 minutes-ish!
Today I'm going to show you how I made a cute pencil skirt from an old t-shirt in 5 minutes-ish!
I saw some really cute striped jersey pencil skirts at Old Navy, and fell in love with them! But, I didn't really want to spend $20 on one... I just didn't think it seemed worth that much money. So, I figured I would make my own!
I found this men's t-shirt at the thrift shop...

Then, I pulled a pencil skirt from my closet as a "pattern."
I matched up the bottom of my skirt with the bottom of the t-shirt, so that I'd already have a finished edge for the bottom!
Then, I cut leaving an inch around both sides and a couple of inches at the top.

I sewed the sides together ("Wrong sides" facing out). Then, I folded down the top and sewed the top edge. (Make sure you don't sew the top edges together!) Finish all of the edges with a zig-zag stitch.
And that's it! Super comfy and cute t-shirt pencil skirt!

Next time, I may add a little bit more on the sides to make it looser...There are endless possibilities to change up this skirt! Longer, shorter, looser, tighter... and whatever t-shirt you choose... Words, patterns, solids... If you make one, send me a pic! I'd love to see what you come up with too!
What quick, fun projects are you working on? Any ideas on what you'd like to see me try?
