Hey y'all!
I've decided to start a new series called "What I Learned" since overwhelmingly my most popular blog post is the What I Learned From 3 C-Sections. Obviously, pregnancy and new parenthood seems so daunting. My goal is to share my experiences in the hope that I can help some other mama out! We all need it, right?!
So, today, I am going to share the top 5 helpful books to read when you're pregnant.

So, today, I am going to share the top 5 helpful books to read when you're pregnant.
My biggest piece of advice for new Mamas is to listen to all of the wisdom you can get. (And if this is your first, I guarantee there will be no shortage of advice coming your way!) Listen to other people, listen to what they have to say and why they say it. And then, decide what works for YOU! Not all of it will... You are going to know your baby better than anyone, so trust yourself, do the very best you can and be proud of yourself for it! :)
Okay, so the books... Ready?

1. Belly Laughs I recently had a friend text me asking some questions about her pregnancy and if some of the weird, crazy things happening to her body were normal. She seemed so embarrassed to even be asking. I assured her that after you have a baby, nothing is really off limits any more. Those questions are just normal conversation topics among a group of Mamas. Even the most modest of us don't even care who is all up in your business when/after you have a baby! This book totally gets into the nitty gritty of this lovely experience and makes you feel better about it all. :) |
2. Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems Ferber's methods are some of the most misunderstood out there. I'll just say this: we have 3 lil men. We implemented Ferber's method with our 3rd, and he is the only one of our kids who consistently goes to sleep in his own bed and stays there all night. By the time he hit the 4 month sleep regression, I was completely exhausted and couldn't imagine having another kid in my bed. So, in desperation, I tried this... and it has totally worked! We still have some work cut out for us with the older two, but we are getting there. |
3. What To Expect When You're Expecting Obviously, this one HAD to be the on list. Every Ob's office gives you a copy when you're pregnant because this book is awesome! It is just cool to read through each week of your pregnancy to know what is going on inside your body. Especially if it's the first time! There are so many changes, so much happening, and it's just cool to be able to enjoy it when you know what's going on! I read through it with each pregnancy because let's face it, each time there were plenty of things that I had forgotten about it. Sometimes purposefully forgotten about... :) |
5. The Key to Your Child's Heart Y'all, it's never too early to start reading about protecting, loving, and leading your child's heart. Start praying for patience and wisdom now because you are going to need it! There are still so many books that I want to read, and I am constantly praying for patience and wisdom with my kids. And, let's face it sometimes I'm just asking God to not let us screw them up! :) Ultimately, I know that God loves our kids more than we ever could, and he is pursuing them just like he did us. So, I'm trusting that he will fill in all of the gaps. But, I want us to do our best to raise our kids in an environment where they grow up with confidence, assurance, and courageousness. This book gives a lot of wisdom and helpful advice. I read it when Micaiah was a baby, and just loved it! |
I hope y'all find this list helpful!
