Y'all, I'm so excited to share Elijah's airplane party with you today! We had such a great weekend, and a really fun party. And, I still can't believe that my littlest lil man just turned 1! Time really does fly.
This party was filled to the brim with cheap and easy DIY projects! I had a lot of fun crafting and decorating, and really it came together pretty fast. I didn't start making everything until Wednesday for our Saturday party. Whoops! But, as you can see, it all worked out just fine. :)
Anyway, check it out! First up, this lil airplane that started it all... :)

A while back, as we were browsing through Hobby Lobby, I saw these awesome little airplanes and fell in love with them! They also have little trucks, and motorcycles, and trains... And, I just knew that they had to be the decor for the boys' bedroom. I just didn't have the budget for it yet, but I knew that somehow I was going to make it happen. :)
Well then, I came across a vintage airplane party on Pinterest and knowing that Elijah's birthday was upon us, my plan was hatched!

This is our old cabinet door turned chalkboard that I decorate and put outside any time we are having a party! I think it's so fun to have that big, colorful welcome sign right out front! :)
I also made a welcome "cloud" for the front door. This was super easy, y'all! I cut out a cloud shape from a white poster board, then pulled apart some cotton balls and glued them all over to make it look like a fluffy cloud. I made the "Welcome" part with some scrapbook paper, and there you go!

I don't know about y'all, but my boys love boxes... usually better than most toys! So, these airplane boxes were a hit!
Photo booth idea cameProbably Actually. You can go HERE to see how I made them!
I loved the cakes! They were really fun to make, but a little harder than I thought.
I thought that if I could make an awesome Angry Birds cake, then surely I could make a few airplanes! As you can see, we got it done, but they are definitely "homemade" and pinker than I planned them. :) I didn't realize that I was almost out of red coloring until it was too late, but pink worked fine too!

Time Flies idea came from Catch My Party.
Now this party decoration just made me all sentimental! Look at my adorable lil man! This was another of those moments that I just stood there and thought, "Yep, the days are so, so long, but the years are short. Where did this one go?!" So, I cherish them all! Well, I try to enjoy and cherish them all. Some days are a little harder than others. :)
The propeller pops were delicious, and pretty easy to make! I made the propellers out of fondant the same time I made the clouds for the cake. I also cut the ends off of a handful of Mike and Ikes. Then, I dipped each marshmallow into some red Candy Melts, and added a propeller. I attached the Mike and Ikes with a tiny dot of icing, and I was done!
These map wraps are so cute, right?! The idea came from Spaceships and Laserbeams. You can go HERE to see how I made them!
Time Flies! Happy 1st birthday, Elijah! :)
I loved making these candy airplanes that I found on Posh Paperie. I put one in each guest bag, along with pencils and some other candy.
I also loved these clothespin airplanes, and so did our party guests! The idea came from Create.Craft.Love.
And here are just a few pictures from the party. :)
