Hey y'all!
One of the big things that I have really wanted to get better about is doing preschool work with the boys. Mostly with Micaiah since he'll start kindergarten in the Fall! I can't believe my baby is about to turn 5.
Like I said in my kitchen command center post, I have a really hard time with getting things done if I don't have them written down and in front of me. So, a weekly objective preschool calendar is our solution! Of course, I have just gotten this all set up, so I will have to let you know in time if it really works for us. :) But, I'm thinking it will!

We plan to do preschool work Monday through Friday. So, on the weekends I will need to sit down and come up with a plan for the coming week. I don't anticipate spending a long time on this, just about 30 minutes gathering ideas from Pinterest of things to learn and have some fun!
So far, we always start preschool with Micaiah going to the calendar on Starfall. Not an affiliate link. It shows them a calendar and tells them what day it is. Then, I let him play around on their website for a little while if he wants to. (I think it is good for him to start getting familiar with the computer and mouse and how it works...)
We also do a short lesson from Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. Some days are great, other days Micaiah just isn't into it. After just 7 lessons, he recognizes the letters "M" and "S" and gets really excited when he spots them! :) We had the library copy, and haven't bought our own yet, but we definitely will. The lessons are really easy, and don't take any preparation which I love! :) I had a friend highly recommend it, and I'm hoping that it really will help Micaiah learn to read! We want to complete it before he starts school in the Fall! The link below is an Amazon Affiliate link.

After Starfall and the reading lesson, we will move on to our objectives. We split our preschool time into two 30-minute segments, and just get done whatever we can in that time frame. If the boys really aren't into it, then we'll put everything away and call it a day! More than anything, I want them to enjoy learning and get excited about discovering new things! So, the schedule isn't all that important in the long run. It is just there to help me have a plan!
My boys pretty much know their colors, so I may change that box to shapes. I also included a box called "What I Want to Learn" so that Micaiah and Colton can each decide on something that they want to learn for that week. It is so much more fun when you get to choose at least part of what you are learning! :)
At the bottom, I included one of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes:
