Hey y'all! So, because of our crazy, stressed out life in general :) house closing (and the fact that we are living out of the office for a few weeks) I did not :( get to move in the organized way that I had planned. But, if you don't have a kajillion things to do to your house before you get to live in it, here's a few great ways to stay organized for your move!
1. Label all of your boxes with a room and a few of the contents!
I label all of my boxes with the room they need to go in, and then add a short list of some of the big contents inside them or what piece of furniture they came out of. This way, if I need something before I get to unpacking the box, I can usually remember what it may be packed with and locate that box!

2. Use color dots on your boxes to specify which room it goes in. Make a color-coded map at the entrances, and put a color-coded sign on each room.
This is really helpful, especially if you have people helping you move! (And, if you are using previously used boxes!) This way, people don't need to be searching for your writing. (Or trying to figure out which writing is yours if the box has been used before!) They just need to look at the color and put it in the room of that color! Easy peasy!
Note: If you can avoid it, stay away from using the neon orange and neon pink stickers in one move. In a past move, we tried that and the colors were too close to each other. We ended up with pink boxes in the orange room and vice versa. :/

3. Pack suitcases for each member of the family for at least one week.
Despite your awesome efforts at staying organized, things will be crazy. Moving is just like that. :/ So, be prepared! Pack a bag with everything that you need immediately and a week's worth of clothes. This way, you have a little bit of a grace period before the chaos overcomes you! :)
Stay calm. And remember, slow and steady wins the race! I have been repeating this over and over to myself for the past couple of weeks!!!
