So, any of you who spend time on Pinterest Show of hands? Oh, 99% of you? :) probably have seen white dishes galore over the past year or two. And, if you are like me, you just love them... especially when placed inside of a black hutch. Kinda like in the servant's hall on Downton Abbey? Right? Right?! The contrast between black and white is just classic and beautiful.
Anyway, I have been wanting a hutch for oh. so. long. I have been looking and looking. (If you've been around for a while, you'll know that I am not willing to spend a lot of money on furniture, especially not when I am going to paint it up! And, when Craigslist exists to allow me to buy great furniture for cheap!)
And guess what happened?! It's even better than a Craigslist find.... My awesome new neighbor GAVE me one! Her grandma's hutch!!!! Can you believe it? I couldn't! :)
Chris was outside playing with the kids, and got to talking with our neighbors and their daughter. She mentioned that she wanted to re-do their flooring, and so of course, Chris invited them over to come see our floors! Thank goodness the house was clean and picked up! While they were here, he was pointing out a bunch of furniture that we got for free and painted so that it all goes together. (See our TV cabinet that we found on the side of the road, our coffee table re-do that we got out of a friend's barn, our recycled wood shelves, etc.)
And then, our neighbor mentioned that she has a hutch in her garage that she'd love for me to have. I could paint it. It was her grandma's.
Shut the front door! What?!
So, we went over to check it out and see if we wanted to take it. The whole time, I thought, "Is this even a question?!" All she asked was that she could come over and look at it every now and then, and and think about her grandma. Ummm... I'll give you keys to my house! You can come over any time you want! :) I didn't exactly go that far, but seriously, I let her know several times that she is welcome to come over whenever she wants to!
Anyway, kind of a long story... But, wanna see it?

Isn't it pretty? I like it. (And, she did too! I was so relieved after she saw it and gave me a big hug!)
Eventually, when the boys inevitably break the glass, I will replace it with chicken wire. I think that will be even prettier. And, I like to have a plan so that I know to probably expect it, and I don't just totally freak out when it happens. :) But, for now, the glass is great....
I also replaced the drawer handles with some I found at Target. Did y'all even know that Target sells drawer pulls? I didn't!

My collection of white dishes is not very large, so that'll grow over time. I was able to go to Target and find quite a few things on clearance, which was awesome! Of course, I paid full price for the white pitcher because it's so pretty! Actually, I wanted one for quite a while but had nowhere to display it. So, I've just been waiting patiently... :)
Anyway, that's it!
